Death Cafe is an international movement. We meet as equals, as people who are going to die. One conversation at a time, we transform our relationship to loss, aging, mortality, dying, and death so we may transform the way we live. Death Cafes are run in a safe, circle format where everyone has a chance to explore perspectives and experiences.

The Death Cafe IS:

🖤 a space to meet simply as people who are going to die

🖤 a gathering with no intention of leading participants to any conclusion, product, or course of action

🖤 an open, respectful, and confidential space where people can express their views safely

🖤 tolerant and reverent, honoring all views with equanimity

🖤 open to and respectful of people of all communities, all ages, and all belief systems

🖤 a frank discussion alongside tea, coffee, and baked goods!

The Death Cafe is NOT:

🖤 a bereavement support or grief counseling setting

🖤 for advice giving

🖤 for people who, for whatever reason, are not able to discuss death comfortably and openly

🖤 an opportunity to give people information about death and dying

🖤 for profit

🖤 for networking or promoting a business, service, or product

🖤 for handing out business cards or promotional materials

🖤 a method of community engagement, research, or consultation
